Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has departed for Uganda to lead a Nepali delegation at the 19th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). The summit, held in Kampala on January 19-20, will focus on the theme "deepening global cooperation for shared global affluence."

Accompanying PM Dahal in the delegation are his daughter Ganga Dahal, Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, and other senior officials. The Prime Minister is scheduled to address the summit on Friday, and during the event, he will participate in a special ceremony hosted by the Ugandan President in honor of visiting delegation chiefs.

The NAM summit will include discussions on the ministerial report, a review of the implementation status of the 18th NAM summit, and the adoption of a Kampala declaration. PM Dahal is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from other attending countries. Nepal, as a founding member of NAM, actively participates in the summit, reflecting its commitment to non-alignment as a fundamental foreign policy principle.

Foreign Minister NP Saud had earlier traveled to Uganda for the ministerial meeting in preparation for the main event. PM Dahal is set to return to Nepal on January 21.
